Chad Christensen

Who he is

Chad Christensen represented Idaho House District 32, Seat B as a Republican from December 2018 through November 2022. He lost his 2022 primary to a Republican challenger and left office. He has surfaced again in District 35A.

His record while in office is an unusually clean fit with the Idaho Freedom Foundation profile. A 98.6 percent lifetime IFF Freedom Index score, with the 2021 cycle at 100 percent. That is what an IFF-aligned legislator looks like. Not someone who occasionally agrees with the IFF position. Someone who votes the IFF position essentially every time.

What’s on the public record

• 2019. BSU defund campaign over Boise State University’s installation of gender-neutral bathrooms.
• 2020. Appearance in Idaho Freedom Foundation video content criticizing Republican Governor Brad Little’s COVID-19 response. The IFF was actively cultivating Ammon Bundy’s People’s Rights Network audience for fundraising and organizing during the same period.
• 2020-2022. Vocal opposition to vaccines and social-distancing measures throughout the pandemic.
• Documented Oath Keepers membership per Wikipedia and contemporaneous reporting. The Oath Keepers leadership was federally prosecuted for seditious conspiracy related to January 6, 2021.

A three-year civil stalking injunction was granted against Hurst by an Idaho judge after a finding of sufficient evidence he had engaged in stalking against the same plaintiff who was reporting on the Pruett-Christensen network.
• Bryan Smith (IFF Vice Chair, Idaho GOP National Committeeman, Idaho Falls attorney). Documented as the single largest itemized donor ($1,600) to the I2AA fundraising disclosure that included the I2AA pro-Zito CBS2 TV ad in 2020.
• Doyle Beck (IFF board member, dark-money donor). Anchors the East Idaho IFF operation. The Bonneville County / IFF / Beck / Smith axis is the geographic and financial center of gravity for the Christensen-adjacent network.
